Our 2021 CSA boxes 


What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Shared Agriculture. A CSA box is a monthly subscription or shares to fruits and veggies that we grow in our garden. You place your order before the season starts and once the produce is ready you will receive a weekly box with whatever is bountiful that week.

Our season will Run July 5th till October 5th with one week off. Each week will bring a new surprise as the garden progresses throughout the season. You can look forward to typical garden staples like peas, beans and carrots as well as some of the more unique varieties that our family loves like barlotti beans, sui choi or rainbow carrots. You can also expect to find some of our delectable  homemade jams, jellies or pickles from time to time as well. This year we will be offering one size box. Our Regular share box is $400 for the season. This gives you 12 weeks of boxes with the opportunity to take one week off. 

Delivery

Once a week we will deliver your share to a pick up point in the city (day, location and time TBA once all shares are sold) Home delivery is available for $8 per week or $96 for the season. You will also have to option to pick up from our home as well. 

How much produce will I receive and I pick what I get each week?

Since we do not know what the growing season will be like we cannot give an exact amount of what you will receive in each box. Our boxes average $34/ week and can feed 2 adults comfortably. The boxes will be smaller as the season starts and will increase as the season peaks. We will ensure that you do get your $400 value out of the box. Each week we will also provide explanations on what is in the box, family tested recipes. All items will be picked by us when they are at their peek and added to your box. As always our products are non gmo, all natural and never sprayed with chemicals. You can expect to see 3+ products a week that will include garden staples and some more uncommon varieties. We will also add our homemade preserves and baking using ingredients from the garden from time to time as well. 

Add-ons

Each week members of our CSA will have the the opportunity to purchase add-ons to their order. Notice of the add on will be given a week in advance and payment will be made in full before delivery.  Extra helping, currently available preserves and fresh baked goodies are a few of the add ons we are excited to offer.

Payment 

$100 deposit will be required to hold your spot. The remaining balance is due on or before June 30th. Payments can be made through electronic money transfer or cheque. In the event of a whole crop catastrophic fail we will reimburse the amount of the share that was unused. All sales are final.

Hello again! We have been naughty bloggers and it has almost been a year since our last post. Why? well life is the short answer. The long answer is with all the social media platforms which do you focus on to bring in customers? We are not sure about the answer so we stuck to Facebook and Instagram. You can find links to both of our accounts on the left hand of your screen and at the end of this post Keeping a blog updated is a lot of work, especially if you are not sure if anyone is reading it..lol and extra especially if you tend to ramble. Nonetheless, we are going to try and start it up again. We are going to try and feature a recipe each week that includes something that we sell. Happy New year and garden plan

Happy New Year!! It is hard to believe that 2019 is here already! Where does the time go!  Here at Pickle Patch Gardens we are already starting to plan for this years growing season. It is a little hard to do when the garden looks like this. Yes, that is the garden behind the tractor rim in the middle of the picture. It is also hard to believe that this is a small amount of snow for winter out here. Unfortunately, we will likely have a lot more snow in the next couple of months. We need the moisture, but lots of snow is no fun either! So how do we plan for our 2019 growing season you ask?  Step 1 is to go over our notes from last year and see what worked and what did not. It will be a little hard to do this year due to the hail storm we had in June. However, we still have an idea. More on that in another post.
